Rosemary Beach “Staycation”

IMG_9293

After Conor and I got married, we never went on a honeymoon. Originally, he was actually supposed to deploy right after our wedding (which is why we got married when we did… who the heck has a wedding in January in Vermont!?).Β  Just a couple of months before our wedding day we found out he wouldn’t be leaving! At that point we were so deep into the stressors of planning that big day that the thought of planning a lavish honeymoon at the same time was just too much. We decided to hold off for a while.

Months went by and we realized we never planned a trip! Yet, at that point another deployment was on the horizon…

In the end, we decided to go for a simple easy “staycation”- a post deployment, one year anniversary (since he was gone for that too), honeymoon staycation in Rosemary Beach, Florida!

For those of you who have never been, or even heard of 30A, you are seriously missing out! 30A is a strip of about 24 miles of the most picturesque little beach towns all along the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Often people will rent beach cruiser bikes and just spend a beautiful, sunny afternoon biking through each town, taking in the unique and unrealistic beauty of it all.

Fun fact- if you’ve ever seen the movie “The Truman Show” with Jim Carey, that movie was actually filmed right in Seaside- the cutest little town along 30A.

We rented a little apartment for the week in Rosemary Beach, but spent our first afternoon wandering Seaside. We explored all the adorable homes, stunning beaches, and fun shops along the way. Also, we couldn’t leave that afternoon without stopping to grab a bite to eat from some of the cute Air Streams theyΒ  have lining the streets.

The rest of our vacation days were spent lounging on the beach, eating delicious food, and sipping cocktails all while enjoying some pretty incredible views. Everywhere you look along 30A there’s something beautiful to see.

Take a look at some of my favorite pictures and moments below!

Though we are lucky enough to live to close to the beach (trust me, we are grateful each and every day for this), sometimes a little staycation an hour away is just what the soul needs!

We rented an apartment through Air Bnb! There are SO many available for quite reasonable prices based on your needs. We got drinks at the rooftop bar at The Pearl hotel almost every evening as well as at there, we also ate at Pescado (a Mediterranean seafood restaurant—- INCREDIBLE). For breakfast, check out Fonville Press in Alys Beach πŸ™‚

Beach, Beach, and MORE BEACH! πŸ™‚
