Our New Humble Abode

IMG_0788

We have been in our new house now for about three weeks and we absolutely love it! It’s so nice to have our own space with plenty of room, a nice big backyard for Jaggs to run around in, and being only five minutes from our favorite beach isn’t all that bad either! There’s so much I want to do in here, but I’m looking forward to being here for the next few years and making this house our home.

We closed on the house June 30, 2016. As soon as we finished our closing we immediately drove to the house, went inside to take it all in, and then of course took a picture to document the moment.

Our awesome realtor, Steve, gave us this “Congratulations!” basket filled with wine, bar accessories, and snacks! He knows us well

We drove back to our apartment, packed up our bed, grabbed Jaggs, and then headed back to spend our first night in our new home.  Jaggs was in heaven when he ran inside and saw all the space to run both inside and outside. It was pizza and champagne for dinner that night, we were just so ecstatic!

The next few days were spent moving all of our stuff from the apartment to the house. We didn’t rent a U-Haul or anything, we just made many trips back and forth (30 minutes each way) in our cars. Luckily, we had our friend Aaron there to help with heavy things- he also has a large SUV so we packed that thing up nice and tight! Thank goodness for willing and helpful friends! This was my FIFTH move in just a little over a year, so I definitely have a system down now, however it doesn’t make it any more fun…

We are slowly but surely unpacking things around here. We have not done much decorating or hanging anything on the walls yet as I’m wanting to paint the walls in the near future. Because of that, things really aren’t finished around here at all, but we’re getting there!

So, without further ado, here it is! Our first sweet humble abode.

Enjoy!!

Before we begin, for anyone who has a Vizsla or knows anything about them, knows that these dogs are velcro dogs. They follow you EVERYWHERE. So, rarely throughout this blog post will you see a picture without Jaggs in it.

We love our big tall ceilings, it makes this space feel so much bigger! The American flag you see above the bar will be hung on that wall once we paint.

The front door walks right into this big open area. We will soon be selling our furniture to get a nice big L-Shaped sectional, so enjoy the mis-matched couches while you can 🙂

Our kitchen table all of a sudden looked so tiny in this home!

The previous owners left this bakers rack in the home. I was planning on selling it, but it’s a little bent and I realized I probably wouldn’t get much for it. So I decided to paint it white and try to make it more my style. I still don’t love it, and it probably won’t last long in the home, but it’s an improvement!

Kitchen looks out onto the living room area, which also connects to the other side of the house containing the guest bedroom, second bathroom, and office.

In case you were thinking, Jaggs didn’t follow me to this room… you were wrong. IMG_6234IMG_6236IMG_6237IMG_6238

Can’t wait to get a nice table for out here so we can enjoy some BBQs

If you’re in the kitchen and Jaggs is outside, almost guaranteed this is what you see when you look out the back doors. IMG_6249IMG_6255IMG_6258IMG_6262

THANK YOU to the closet gods for this big beauty

Conor’s prominent attire is the only thing he hangs in his closet

One of my favorite additions to our new home. As an engagement present my parents gave Conor and I this painting done by a local famous Vermont artist, Katharine Monstream. This is a painting of the view from the top of Mount Philo. This is the mountain where Conor and I got engaged 🙂

We are in love with this beautiful home and can’t wait to add our personal touches to it. We have SO much room for visitors, so please come and keep us company!
