NOURISHING CREAM CLEANSER

It has been quite some time since I’ve done a product review on here- and as I came to think of it, I had no idea why I hadn’t talked more about this specific Beautycounter product yet- as it’s one of my absolute FAVORITES and one that I use daily!

The Nourishing Cream Cleanser is the ultimate facial cleanser because it’s great for everyone. It’s  unscented, incredibly lightweight, and never leaves your skin feeling like there’s a residue left behind. If you were to compare its look and feel to another cleanser on the market, you could say it was similar to the popular Cetaphil, though in many ways it is QUITE different (more on that later). I use this cleanser at least once a day and it leaves my skin feeling luminous and fresh but also incredibly clean!

The reason that I claim this single product to be the ultimate cleanser is because it is great for all skin types. It’s perfect for those with dry skin, oily or greasy skin, sensitive skin, and aging skin. It’s a gentle daily cleanser that will both soothe and nourish your skin as you wash away makeup and other impurities without stripping it of it’s moisture.

Both lightweight yet moisturizing, the creamy formula contains Witch Hazel to help tone your skin as well as coconut oil and aloe to help hydrate.

WHY IS THIS PRODUCT SAFER?

This cleanser harnesses the power of sugar-derived surfactants to gently cleanse skin, rather than using sulfate-based cleansers that can cause dryness and irritation.

As I mentioned before, as far as consistency  and look, this product is similar to Cetaphil. But where they vary greatly is in their safety. Cetaphil contains some incredibly dangerous ingredients like parabens, PEGs, and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (all ingredients on Beautycounter’s Never List).  I am never one to bash other names when it comes to products, however this is a product that is always so highly recommended by dermatologists nationwide and has been perceived to be safe and gentle. I can’t help but feel like we have all been taken for a ride (and not a fun one).

Below is a picture showing the danger level of some of Cetaphil’s ingredients (the higher the number, the higher the toxicity level)

Check out this article to find out why we may not want to be using Cetaphil cleanser on our faces daily:

MATTEA’S TIPS:

  1. Recently, I’ve learned the proper and best way to use this facial cleanser (as well as any and all other cleansers from Beautycounter). After you dampen your skin and apply the cleanser, rather than splashing your face with water (like you see in all the commercials on TV), avoid the tsunami-looking disaster by your sink and  dampen a washcloth with warm water and wipe away the cleanser. When you cleanse your skin, you open your pores and clear all the nasty gunk that gets caught up in them. If you don’t wipe away all of that on your skin and you just splash instead, you’re bound to have some left behind, as well as leave a light residue. After cleansing this way you will be SHOCKED at how different your skin feels afterwards. I didn’t learn this until a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t believe how different my face looked after just a few days of cleansing this way. When I mentioned this tip to my Mother, she responded by saying that she was “old fashioned” and always washed her face that way. It’s crazy how commercials on TV can be such an influence on what we perceive as normal and correct!

2.  If you only use a cleanser once a day, I recommend that you leave this cleanser for night time. It works WONDERFUL as a makeup remover. So if you are a person who wears makeup but just cleanses once a day- make this part of your night routine! You will leave your face makeup free, refreshed, and clean. Remember- sleeping with your makeup on will age your skin at a much higher rate!

3. always, Always, ALWAYS follow up with a moisturizer! I can’t recommend this enough! Though your skin undoubtedly will feel soft and hydrated after washing with the Nourishing Cream Cleanser, you want to make sure you keep it that way with a moisturizer. I highly recommend our Nourishing Day Cream, as like the cleanser, it is light, unscented, and will never leave you feeling oily or greasy. If you don’t follow up with a moisturizer you’re putting your skin at risk for drying out and over compensating, leading to an increased production of oil, and breakouts!

This is a crucial Beautycounter product that you don’t want to go without and is an easy switch. The Nourishing Cream Cleanser is a safe alternative to all of the cleansers out there. Because it is good for all skin types (just as the entire Nourishing Collection is),  this cleanser can replace your current one and be much safer. This product is a wonderful balance for my skin between uses of the Charcoal Cleansing Bar (link, HERE). This is one of the three products that I recommend to anyone and everyone who asks me about Beautycounter!! Check it out for yourself- you won’t regret it!
