Honey Garlic Shrimp

Quite possibly, the EASIEST recipe you will find out there. Really… no lies here!

This Honey Garlic Shrimp is quick, easy, delicious, and quite a husband-pleaser. I’ve wanted to include more homemade seafood dishes in our house, seeing as how we are so close to fresh quality seafood! It seems that whenever we eat seafood, it’s when we’re out to eat, and honestly most of the time it’s fried. So it’s been a goal of mine to learn how to cook more seafood at home. And yes, I count cooking shrimp as part of this goal, though it’s probably the easiest and quickest thing to do in the kitchen.

Check out this recipe for when you’re in a dinner rut and need something new!

HONEY GARLIC SHRIMP

INGREDIENTS:

  1. 1/3 cup of honey
  2. 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  3. 1 TBS minced garlic
  4. 2 tsp minced fresh ginger
  5. 1 lb medium uncooked shrimp, peeled, deveined
  6. 2 tsp olive oil

PREPARATION:

  1. Whisk honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger together in small mixing bowl
  2. Place shrimp in large zip lock bag, pour half of the liquid mixture into bag and let marinate for a minimum of 15 minutes. The longer the shrimp are able to marinate, the better.
  3. Cover and refrigerate the rest of the marinade
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet on medium-high. Place shrimp in skillet, discarding the used marinade. Cook shrimp on one side until pink (about 1 minute), then flip.
  5. When all shrimp are flipped, add the remaining half of the marinade. Cook it all together until shrimp is cooked all the way through (about 1-2 minutes more). side note** – I actually cook the shrimp for a bit longer to get the sauce almost caramelized so it’s nice and sticky and gooey when the dish is finished. However, this is personal preference!
  6. Serve shrimp with cooked marinade sauce.
  7. ENJOY!!

We paired our shrimp with brown rice and steamed broccoli. The sauce tasted wonderful on both of these sides!
