Today, our little Jaggs turns one year old! And yes, when your puppy pretty much is your baby this is a big deal!!  To start his special day off, Jaggs was let out of his crate just a little bit early today to get some extra puppy cuddles in before Conor left for work. All day he was spoiled with extra treats, hugs, kisses, and play time in the back yard.

And you BET he got a birthday cake! Or, “Pupcakes” as I called them.

I made them myself, and even tried one. Honestly they actually were pretty good! (No dog food included or anything like that). I’ll post the recipe at the end for anyone wanting to make a special treat for their furry friend (or honestly even for themselves).

There were definitely some gifts involved in the day as well. I couldn’t help myself, this guy is just so loved!

Our Jaggs has changed our life drastically. I still remember the process it took just to get him. It required lots of convincing for Conor, begging, and even a few tears by yours truly ;). I just knew that at that point in my life I needed something else, I needed another companion.  Those who have a dog of their own can understand when I say I didn’t realize just how much my life was missing until Jaggs came into it.

We have learned so much from our time with this little guy, and not just about how to take care of a dog, but we’ve learned lots about each other and life in general.  Though he has tested our patience plenty of times, caused a few temper tantrums, and although he still pees on the floor out of excitement, we couldn’t love him more!

He’s provided so much laughter in our lives, forces us to get out and stay active, and gives the BEST hugs in the entire world. I can’t imagine our lives without his tail wiggles that dust our floors, morning whines, continuous vocal entertainment, and cuddles. He’s changed us for the better.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY!

PUPCAKES RECIPE:

Ingredients:

1/4 cup Peanut Butter

1 Egg

1/4 cup Honey

1/4 cup Applesauce

1 cup Flour

1/3 cup Oatmeal

1 tsp. Baking Soda

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. Mix all ingredients in large mixing bowl, mixture will come out almost like cookie dough instead of cake batter

3. Line cupcake tray

4. Spoon mixture into tray

5. Bake 15-20 minutes

6. Frost if desired! You can use either All Natural Peanut Butter  or Pumpkin Puree. (We used Peanut Butter because we actually wanted to try one as well, and the pumpkin just didn’t sound as appealing to us).
